Early Years at Richmond Primary School
In the early years foundation stage, there are four overarching principles which we follow wholeheartedly at Richmond Primary School.
- Every child is unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured
- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships
- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments with teaching and support from adults, who respond to their individual interests and needs and help them to build their learning over time. Children benefit from a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.
- The importance of learning and development. Children develop and learn at different rates.
There are seven areas of learning in Early Years. Threaded throughout our curriculum are the Characteristics of Effective Learning.
At the end of the year, we will assess your child against the Early Learning Goals.
